Title:                   Sponsor Development Manager (2 openings)       
Location:             Chicago - Near North Suburb

Company Overview:  For over 50 years, our client, a nationally recognized not-for-profit corporation has been conducting scholarship programs for identifying and honoring academically talented US high school students who have exceptional abilities and show great promise for future academic success.  Scholarships are privately financed by corporations, company foundations, professional groups, universities, colleges and the corporation’s own funds.  Students are awarded scholarships worth more than $50 million annually which are administered by the corporation.  Location:  near-north Chicago suburb.

Position Description:  The Sponsor Development Manager is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with existing corporate sponsors as well as prospecting and developing new sponsors for the specific scholarship programs administered by the corporation.  As part of a small team that covers the entire United States, this individual will be expected to travel no more than 10% of the year and must be comfortable communicating with a variety of corporate contacts from administrators to officers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and managing numerous specific corporate sponsor accounts
  • Identifying, analyzing, qualifying and committing new corporate sponsor accounts
  • Preparing and controlling all corporate sponsor and prospect correspondence and records
  • Arranging and conducting meetings with sponsors and prospects
  • Internal analysis and reporting to upper management on developments regarding sponsor activity and prospect development

Requirements:

  • BA or BS degree, required; advanced degree, a plus
  • Demonstrated success within the corporate development arena (mid to large sized corporate organizations and national foundations)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of how to apply marketing and financial analysis techniques is desirable
  • Knowledge of the high school and collegiate educational environment is desirable
  • Team player
