Company Overview:  Division of large, public, global manufacturer of well-known products for industrial and commercial applications.  Location:  O’Hare area. 

Position Overview:  The Cost Accountant is responsible for the development and maintenance of accurate standard costs and for the reporting and analysis of related variances.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly accounting entries for standard cost of sales, standard cost variance, and other inventory transactions
• Monitor monthly production spending in relation to the budgets and advise of variances
• Assist in preparation of production facility cost budgeting and associated direct labor and overhead costing rates
• Monitor monthly inventory levels, inventory turns, inventory adjustments, manufacturing and vendor scrap, and other related information
• Assist in the identification and monitoring of slow moving and obsolete inventory levels
• Collaborate in the identification and resolution of issues

Requirements:

• BS in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or CMA, a plus
• 3 or more years of accounting experience including cost accounting experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment
• ERP experience including expertise with relational databases, data mining, and developing queries.  Oracle a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize, plan, and multi-task
• Ability to effectively collaborate with employees in all levels across the organization.
• Conscientious, detailed and willing to improve processes
