Title: Corporate Controller
Location: Chicago - Western Suburb
Company Overview: Large subsidiary of multi-billion dollar service industry corporation located in Chicago-Western suburb.
Position Overview: The Corporate Controller will assist the Vice President-Accounting with the financial affairs for the organization and with preparation of monthly financial statements for the consolidated operations of the corporation. Management of accounting activities with external auditors and agencies as well as those of the internal business units is required. The ability to provide detailed analysis of financial statements and fluctuations and provide recommended areas of improvement is critical.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all monthly financial reporting for multiple separate legal entities to the parent company
- Provide leadership, direction and supervision of the corporate accounting group to promote productivity, retention and the development of the staff
- Engage in continual improvement of accounting/financial processes
- Responsible for financial and accounting systems and controls
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies
- Implement financial and accounting activities with internal and external auditors
- Perform technical accounting research on current and emerging US GAAP and IFRS requirements
- Evaluate new accounting rules to advise VP–Accounting of the impact to the company
- Assist in the implementation of to Oracle general ledger system
- Manage aspects of local statutory and tax reporting
- Maintain aspects of consolidated tax provision
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA, required
- Mid to Large size public accounting firm experience, required
- 7 – 10 year of accounting managerial experience with exposure to SEC reporting requirements
- Experience with general ledger system conversions (Oracle a plus)
- Hyperion reporting experience
- International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) experience a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft application (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Strong hands-on and reconciliation skills
- Polished, professional with effective communication skills
- Ability to manage teams and individuals to maintain a positive, productive work climate
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Able to multi-task while maintaining focus on the big picture
- Ability to travel to Canada and the United Kingdom
