Title:                  Tax Reporting Manager       
Location:            Chicago - North Suburb

Company Overview:  Division of a large, multinational food manufacturer.  Location:  Chicago-North Suburb.

Position Overview:  The Tax Reporting Manager position will include tax provision accounting and financial reporting, tax rate forecasting, tax planning support and tax compliance.  The individual in this position will have the primary responsibility to help assure that the company’s global tax rate is forecasted accurately and that the company’s tax accounting and tax impacts are properly reflected in the financial statements.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review aspects of the quarterly financial reporting of taxes including necessary disclosures and analyses for the 10-Q and 10-K filings in compliance with FAS 109, FIN 48, APB 28 and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404
  • Prepare and review aspects of tax rate forecasts provided by corporate teams, including assessing the impact from global restructuring programs, effective tax rates and other items having a tax rate impact
  • Assist in the preparation and review of the company’s deferred tax balances and system
  • Assist in the preparation of analysis of quarterly federal estimated tax payments, the federal extension and related federal tax returns (tax compliance) on an as-needed basis
  • Provide client service by responding to internal clients, monitoring tax law changes and participating in business process change within the company.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5 – 10 years experience hands-on experience in preparing tax provisions, preferably with a public accounting firm or in the Tax Department of a large multinational corporation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance principles and U.S. tax laws
  • Exceptional analytical and technical skills; must exhibit initiative, judgment and problem-solving abilities; must be able to analyze data and report information, present findings and make recommendations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to persuasively and diplomatically influence other to effect change, implement initiatives and to achieve business objectives
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people across all levels of the organization
