Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Chicago - Loop
Company Profile: Growing (250-300+MM), privately held corporation with locations in multiple states. Position is in downtown Chicago.
Position Overview: The Accounting Manager – General Ledger manages the corporation’s general ledger and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Manages all aspects of the general ledger system
- Assists the controller to ensure the integrity of information entered into the general ledger
- Manages general ledger close; balance sheet review and reconciliation process
- Performs financial statement review and analysis
- Provides accurate monthly financial reporting
- Ensures the financial integrity of the inventory system
- Collaborates with the controller in creating and monitoring annual and monthly budgets
- Acts as liaison between operations and corporate to ensure that goals and agendas are aligned
- Manages vendor relationships
- Assists with loan compliance
- Prepares miscellaneous tax returns and corporate filings
- Manages the external audit process
- Recommends and implements improvements to finance-related corporate policies
- Assists in reengineering all financial control processes
- Maintains desk procedures for the accounting department
- Manages one staff member
- Other duties as necessary, e.g., generating ad hoc reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA
- 3+ years of public accounting experience OR 5+ years of industry accounting experience
- Advanced working proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite
- JD Edwards (JDE) experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and analytical with strong organizational and problem solving skills
